Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning is a non-profit organization in Manchester, Vermont whose mission is to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of he community by providing accessible, diversified, and high quality educational programs to the public. It is designed to be a community service to all adults (young and old alike) living in the Northshire region. We offer courses in academic subjects with intellectual rigor as well as courses for people who simply want to develop their abilities and skills, for professional or personal reasons, for a reasonable investment of time and money in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Most of our classes are interactive, which means that students are an important part of the educational process. Though the teacher may be an expert in his or her field, the participants - adults with a wide range of backgrounds, talents, and knowledge - contribute to the direction and richness of Green Mountain Academy's programs.
The courses range from art, music, philosophy, theatre, literature, languages and history to cooking, bridge and photography. Our Hot Topics courses bring distinguished speakers from far and wide to discuss current events of national and international significance. The Brown Bag Lecture Series provides an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas with talented scholars and professionals in their field. In addition, we offer a Culinary Series and a number of special events that include fascinating lectures as well as trips to theatres and museums in the region.
