Inspired by this summer’s exhibition 2021˚ F: 10th Anniversary of the Vermont Glass Guild at Southern Vermont Arts Center, SVAC Executive Director Anne Corso will talk about the medium of glass. For almost 4,000 years glass has been made in the early furnaces of the Ancient Egyptians and Romans, by the pioneers of the Studio Glass Movement, and used by contemporary and performance artists of today pushing the boundaries of glass. Discover why artists, viewers, and consumers have been enchanted with this mercurial medium for nearly 4 millennia.

GUEST SPEAKER
Anne Corso joined SVAC in 2019, most recently from the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, where she had served as the Director of Education. Prior to her tenure at the Chrysler, she was Director of Education at both the Reading Public Museum in Pennsylvania and at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington. Anne holds a B.A. in Art History from Rosemont College in Pennsylvania and an M.A. in Museum Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Anne has participated in the nationally known Getty Leadership Institute for Executive Education; and she currently serves on the board of the Manchester Business Association and is a member of the Vermont Curators Group.
